It is a good way to get more water but when using those machineries to desalinate the water, we are also harming the earth in anonther way. We will cause more global warming and we wouldn't want that to happen do we?
using this way, singapore can produce 30 million gallons of water a day and is one of the region's largest seawater reserve-osmosis plants, so if singapore is to use the method for a long period, it will increase singapore's water supply by a great amount and therefore is a effective way to get water.
er hi, baosheng here. i personally feel that using a desalination plant is not a long term solution to a water shortage problem, as it is expensive to build a desalination plant.thus, it is definately not an ideal solution to the problem. Instead, i would encourage people to conserve water to reduece the water usage of the water, until the government find a better way to solve this never ending problem.
Being the 4th National tap, it is producing 30 million gallons of water a day . Sea water goes through a pre-treatment process where suspended particles are removed. In the second stage, the water undergoes reverse osmosis. This is the same technology used in the production of NEWater. The water produced is very pure and is remineralised in the third stage. After treatment, desalinated water is blended with treated water before it is supplied to homes and industries in the western part of Singapore.
got people comment wat =.= weirdd loh singapore got so much sea water then don't want use worry here and there T.T if they can make sea water to pure water using reverse osmosis then we will have hell lot of water !!!! so long sucker ._.
Even though it is a good way, we just do not have the means to build the desalination plants. We have a limited land supply and MIGHT not even have the funds to build them. Plus, we seriously need to think of other ways to increase our own water supply. We cannot just reply on desalinated water.
